Jonathan Gordon

return to Life Stories

Jonathan GordonI was diagnosed in 2001 with a GBM....it meant very little to me and I honestly thought I would be back at work within 3 months. At the time I was based in Edinburgh working for a bank. After radiotherapy and debaulking surgery I flew out to join my parents who were living in New Zeland at the time. During my two years in New Zealand the tumour got smaller until it disappeared. Whilst In New Zealand I was part of a New Zealand Cancer Dragon Boat Team. I enjoy fly fishing and have been able to continue this hobby both in New Zealand and Aberdeenshire where I now live with my fantastic parents.

On my return to Scotland with my parents and two jack russell dogs, the tumour seemed to come back so I am now receiving chemotherapy. Four and a half years later I continue to fight this tumour on a daily basis. I remain positive that I will win this fight.

I have a wonderful group of friends who have been such a good support. A number of friends both in Scotland and elsewhere have been very active and successful in raising funds for SDBTT. Currently the total stands at over £5,000.

Jonathan Gordon

It is with great sadness we report that Jonathan died in the summer of 2006 after fighting this dreadful disease for many years. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends who witnessed his bravery and courage and who now face a future without this wonderful man in their lives.
